Facility owner facing money laundering, patient brokering charges

Facing accusations for any crime can cause significant setbacks for anyone. When a person is accused of a white collar crime, like money laundering, the setbacks could be significant because the potential penalties are often severe. The moment suspicions arise for such a crime, it may be wise for the suspected party to work on learning about his or her legal options.

One man in Florida will undoubtedly want to do his best to find the defense options that suit his circumstances after recently being charged. According to reports, the 35-year-old man is the owner of multiple addiction treatment facilities. He is accused of accepting over $1 million in kickbacks from a lab to which he sent urine samples for testing.

Sending the samples to a lab for testing can cost thousands of dollars, which ends up billed to patients' insurance, as opposed to the $5 to $10 it costs when done at the treatment facility. The man would receive a cut from the lab's insurance payout, which he then reportedly sent to shell accounts to make it more difficult to trace. As a result, he is currently facing charges for money laundering and patient brokering.

In efforts to effectively address his situation, the man may need to gather important information relating to the charges, evidence brought against him and his possible defense options. Money laundering cases can prove complicated, and due to the other allegations he also faces, this man may have a long road ahead of him. In order to ensure that he obtains the right information, he may wish to utilize local Florida legal resources.
