Drug trafficking charges filed against woman after home search

A tip to police could result in a person's life changing drastically. When authorities act on information provided by another individual, it could spark an investigation that leads to serious criminal charges, like those for drug trafficking. If this happens, the accused person may feel caught off his or her guard and confused about how to handle the legal predicaments that are now imminent.

One woman in Florida is likely feeling a number of emotions after recently being taken into custody. Reports indicated that authorities were tipped off to a house out of which methamphetamine was allegedly being distributed. This tip led police to obtain a search warrant for the residence. They purportedly discovered methamphetamine, packaged methamphetamine ready for distribution and drug distribution equipment.

The investigation resulted in a 47-year-old woman being taken into custody at the home. She is currently facing a charge of trafficking in methamphetamine. It was also noted that some of the substance was located in areas accessible to children and that the home itself had numerous issues, including being cluttered with debris and running on power from a generator.

Drug trafficking charges can come with serious consequences in the event of a conviction in Florida. Because the woman charged in this case certainly wants to put her best foot forward when handling her situation, she may find it useful to become more knowledgeable on her available defense options. It may also benefit her to better understand the legal proceedings ahead and what she can anticipate facing as her case moves through the criminal justice system.
