Battery charge stems from incident on Florida State campus

In many debates, individuals can become heated over their points of view. In some cases, especially when it comes to politics, people can hold strong opinions and feel the need to take action to make their voices heard. However, if situations escalate beyond verbal debate and become physical, charges for battery could result.

It was recently reported that a Florida State University student was taken into custody for battery after apparently engaging in a political debate. The young woman, who was reported as being 19 years old, reportedly began yelling at volunteers working at a Republican party table that was set up on the university's campus. The woman is also accused of pouring chocolate milk on at least one volunteer.

A volunteer began recording the incident, which shows the woman emphatically expressing her views. Authorities were called to the scene, and they issued a warrant for the woman's arrest. She turned herself in and is currently facing a charge for battery. After spending a night in county jail, she was released and has a court date set for later this month.

This young woman will undoubtedly not want this allegation for battery to negatively affect her future. Fortunately, she can take the time to explore her legal options for handling her criminal case. Information from local Florida legal resources may allow her to better understand the charges and her available defense options. Due to her young age, her parents may also want to understand the predicament she currently faces to determine whether they may also need to take action.
