Aggravated assault, other charge stem from Florida traffic stop

Serious criminal charges deserve the proper attention. When a person is accused of aggravated assault or other severe crimes, that person may have a difficult time maintaining his or her innocence. However, individuals in this type of situation do have legal options for defending against any allegations brought against them.

It was recently reported that a man in Florida was accused of violent crimes involving a police deputy. Apparently, the deputy conducted a traffic stop on the man's vehicle because the window tinting on the SUV was too dark, which violated the law. During the stop, the officer allegedly smelled marijuana and asked the driver to turn off the vehicle. Instead, the driver reportedly attempted to drive away and dragged the deputy with the vehicle.

The deputy fired shots during the incident, and the driver was struck in the leg. He was taken into custody and treated for the gunshot wound. The officer suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, and he was treated and released from the hospital. The driver of the SUV is currently facing allegations of aggravated assault and attempted murder.

The charges brought against this man can certainly have lasting impacts if he faces convictions. Undoubtedly, he wants to avoid severe outcomes for his case, and it may be wise for him to work on defending against the assault and attempted murder allegations. He not fully understand his available legal options, but he could take the time to become more knowledgeable about his case. Gaining information from local Florida legal resources may allow him to find the most viable options for his predicament.
