Federal narcotics charges brought against 3 Florida officers

Any person could end up in a situation where criminal charges are brought against them. In some cases, the allegations can be severe, such as federal narcotics charges. It can be immensely important for individuals in such predicaments to take the time to determine how they will feel comfortable addressing the allegations.

Three police officers in Florida are undoubtedly hoping to find their best courses of action after recently being charged. Reports stated that after a citizen's complaint, an investigation began into the actions of the three officers. Allegedly, the officers were given cash to protect suspected drug traffickers and money launderers. One of the officers was also accused of using and dealing drugs as well as selling a police uniform and badge. The buyer of the uniform was apparently an undercover agent.

Details on the citizen complaint that led to the investigation were not given in the report. Internal affairs and the FBI participated in the investigation. The officers are now facing charges of conspiracy to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute, attempting to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute and using a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime. More information relating to this case may be available at a later time.

The federal narcotics charges these officers are facing can come with severe penalties. As a result, they certainly want to go over their legal options. Finding the right defense strategies for their cases may take time, but obtaining reliable and applicable information from local Florida legal resources may help them as they face this predicament.
